Blackhills annual Easter Egg Hunt took place on a bright and sunny morning on the 5th April.
75 Beavers and Cubs from around the County registered to take part, they were welcomed onto the campsite by Giant Cut out penguins showing the way.
Once we had the registrations the Egg hunt got under way, the Beavers and Cubs searched the site looking for a plastic egg, which they could then later exchange for a chocolate egg, in addition five lucky Beavers or Cubs found a golden bunny.
Once all the small eggs were found it was then time to get into their teams for the Giant Egg and Spoon Obstacle Course Race. From a racing start the Cubs and Beavers in their teams had to find a giant golden egg to put on their spoon, then they had to negotiate around the course under scramble nets and over fences to a racing finish. After elimination heats came the grand finals – The Beavers race was won by 46th Bradford North and the Cubs by 35th Halifax.
The morning ended with our county Commissioner Neil Leatherland presenting the Easter eggs won in the earlier hunt and the team eggs for the Egg and Spoon race.
There was one final presentation of the day that was one made by our Camp Site Commissioner John Reynolds to Neil Leatherland who was presented with a Blackhills Campsite knecker and made an honoury member of the site.
Every Beaver and Cub went home clutching at least one chocolate egg and in a few cases more.
