During May this year, Blackhills Scout Campsite were kindly offered by Headman Construction, of Lindley. Huddersfield, 2 classrooms, free, from Burniston Primary School in Bedale, North Yorkshire.
During early July, we organised ground works courtesy of R.Buntons at an extremely beneficial price and removal and re-erection by Messrs S.J. Stanberry, again at a beneficial price, however this does mean that these costs alone amount to £11,800.00
After some discussions and kind advice from our architect, one Gary Sorsby ( Ex District Commissioner, Bradford West ) we are now able to publish the proposed conversion of the classrooms and new central area, to be submitted shortly to Bradford Council.
I do hope you’ll find time to look over the plans and agree that this project will be of great value to the sites infrastructure, for both Wardens and Junior Crew alike. We anticipate the need to remove the existing Caravan, and should anyone know of a possible self build or similar that may benefit, we will gladly sell the van and put the proceeds towards the above development costs.
Once approval is hopefully received, we need help from qualified adults as well as enthusiastic helpers to get the conversion under way, all are welcome irrespective of skills, help as required will be given. If you are available, or know of others how may help please e-mail or phone.
