Easter week-end

Well folks, what a great weekend of work we had……… we managed to finish the last bedroom with our pine cladding, and also got all the bedroom walls varnished plus got new curtains up in all windows, so there is no excuse now NOT to have the shutters off and the room vented. Much healthier for our customers AND the building.
We’ve now cladded the lounge area in the kitchen, Wow, what a difference !!! Varnishing will be done this week.
In addition the bathroom floor is now fully tiled and all the basins and toilets re-plumbed in, painting the walls is next.

We didn’t get as many folk as we would have wished for, if we had done, then lots more of the necessary jobs could have been done. Honestly we really would like to get to the bottom of why just the few dedicated, have to jump between jobs and emergencies, when there are the possibilities of lots of more work being done by useful people from not only the two host Districts, but also anyone willing to help from adjacent Districts. Can anyone shed any light of a solution PLEASE ? Speak to any BLAST staff member  ( Blackhills Activity & Service Team, in case you were wondering )  or drop a note off at the site ( anonymity will be quite acceptable ) we just need to know WHAT we need to do to attract more help with tasks, and  especially Wardens.

We have lots of tasks still to complete, after the Rhodes, our priorities will be completing the fencing for the new climbing tower, and the centre base / walls & roof of the wardens / junior crew building. But there is also wood preserve to apply to all our buildings, painting rooms in Rhodes / Grimley ( usually mid –week as the huts are in use week-ends ) and 2nd toilet block. IF you can help, or even think of another task you are comfortable doing,  please contact John Reynolds on 07710 548423 [email protected]

Thanks in advance

I think hosting a work weekend on Easter weekend may have been a slight problem as most people were spending it with family or away for the bank holiday!

The problems between the site managers and the Network have yet to be resolved. Once this has happened we will have no problem in returning to do work at Blackhills. Please could we organise a time to do this.
