Egg Hunt & Egg and Spoon race 2012
What a wonderful day, weather great ( after a misty start ) 150 + young people and lots of adults as well.
After registering on the day ( something we’ll have to look at for next year ) everyone sheepishly gathered in front of the site providore ( tuckshop ) for a briefing
About what we were going to do and when. We went to the start gate of the EGG HUNT and starting looking for 50 eggs, lots were found and our details given to registration but after 25 minutes, and 4 eggs still to find we gathered again in front of the providore.
We waiting about 10 minutes, ( chance TO BUY SWEETS AND REFRESHMENTS ) whilst we sorted out the heats for Beaver scout teams and Cub Scout teams
( not politically correct titles now, but scout teams and scout teams sounds daft ) we then went down to the Egg & spoon course.
Once the course was explained, and we were called to form up in teams for each heat, on ‘GO’ team leader went in the padding pool and looked for the ‘token’ once found the team joined them, picked up the GIANT coloured spoon and egg and set off. Through the chicane, over the steeplechase fence, through the hoops, over the 2nd steeplechase fence, under the GIANT mozi net and on to the finish.
Lots of heats later we finally had Beaver Scout team winners and Cub Scout Winners………back up to the providore for the results.
All those who had found an egg in the ‘hunt, were called out by name and given a large egg, well done……… Followed by the Egg and spoon winners………
and finally all those young people who hadn’t managed to find an egg, got a consolation Crème Egg. Well done everyone.
Thanks to all who helped on the Saturday to set up, and on the day. Especially Wendy for registration on the day, Colin and Keith for the Egg and Spoon course,
John B. for refreshments, Danny for car parking, Chris W. Paul D. for the pool and Craig for the Buggy. Finally to Jacqueline for registration and chasing payments prior to the day.
We were all done for about 12.30, so if you want to make next year even better, keep an eye on the website for dates and details for 2013.
