LOOKING AFTER YOUR SAFETY……

It is fantastic to see so many groups are using the great spring / summer evenings to visit the site.
As managers of the campsite we take the health, safety and wellbeing of all our patrons very seriously and are continually striving to ensure we maintain high standards in this area.
In order for us to ensure your safety and well being whilst on site we would like to remind you that that pre-booking is essential for ALL types of site visit, wether it be an evening visit with your section with your own activities or a full day visit with a whole group or district participating in bookable activities.
Bookings can be done easily by telephoning our booking secretary on 0845 094 8894 which is a low cost number for your convenience.

FIRE SAFETY
We have numerous fire bases on site, over the last few months we have had to rebuild many of them as they are being used by some for bonfire size fires we would like to advise you that these bases are NOT designed for large fires with stacks of pallets on the bases as the heat generated corrupts the cement and bricks which causes them to explode ultimately causing serious injury

PLEASE only have campfires which are built for purpose, i.e. cooking, or social and avoiding injury, unnecessary confrontation and expense of having to re-build the bases for other users. We are always more than happy for larger campfires to be held on the site campfire base .

CCTV
Although anti-social behaviour, vandalism and theft is extremely minimal on site we had a spate of vandalism and anti-social behaviour from unwanted visitors last year we have therefore installed C.C.T.V on the site to assist us in being able to monitor and deter any unwanted visitors , reducing the likelihood of any further such incidents we believe that it will help us to provide a safer environment for users.
Please do not be intimidated by this installation, as providing you booked onto site and behaving in an appropriate manner, there will be no need for you to worry.
We check the recordings weekly, or earlier in the event of necessity, but rest assured we will act on its contents as accordingly.

SITE VISITORS FEES
Why not take the headache of having to collect or pay the site for each individual day / evening visits, we are offering Groups the opportunity to pre-register and pay for their annual usage.
Simply plan approximately the number of visits, and your approximate numbers and send us your donation ( £1.00 per day visit and £0.50 per evening visit per person ) using the Scout Law ‘ to be trusted ‘ keep your own records through the year and settle up any additional costs then.
Alternatively your occasional visits can be paid into the drop letterbox ( by the Archery / shooting ranges ) – Please DO NOT USE the top letterbox though, by the entry gate please, or you can drop it in at the Booking Secretary, 2 Derwent Avenue, Wilsden BD15 0LY either on your way to or from site.

RHODES HUT UPGRADE
We are proud to announce that we have recently installed new UPVc double glazed windows and doors, and where required new external shutters in the Rhodes Hut. Not only is this aesthetically pleasing it also assists with your health, safety and well being as the Kitchen door has now been fitted with a push bar for ease of exit in the event of a fire. The windows have ventilation openings which will assist in preventing damp / mould formation when the building is closed
We hope that you take the opportunity to visit us very soon to have a look around and see some of the many ongoing development and improvements taking place.

WARDENS
The site operates with volunteer wardens throughout the summer, accommodation currently a large static caravan, fully equipped for 6 persons in 2 bedrooms. You only need to supply your own bedding and food. Even if you’ve never done this type of work before, training can be given and you and your family can benefit from an enjoyable stay away from home.
We do need more volunteers, so if interested and need more information, PLEASE don’t hesitate to contact John Reynolds on 07710 548423 or [email protected]

We look forward to welcoming you on site soon

John Reynolds
