Youth Forum and Open Day 2015
Well, what a day, we welcomed Wayne Bulpitt ( UK Chief Commissioner ) Vicki Pearson ( North East Regional Commissioner ) and Mark Adrian Stageman ( west Yorkshire County Commissioner ) onto our site, accompanied with beautiful September sunshine.
After par-taking lunch, Wayne visited the Bradford North Adult and Young person Forums, and then visited Bradford South’s Scout Skills Day.
The main event for the site was the dedications of our Bouldering Wall, Climbing Tower, and the opening of our Wardens accommodation building.
Bouldering Wall was made possible by very kind donations and bequests from
Vera Jacques – Bradford South, life long Cub Leader and great supporter of Scouting.
Margaret Wilson – Bradford East / North, again life long Cub Leader, St Johns Ambulance and dedicated church attender. Sadly missed.
Robert ( Bob ) Plummer – Bradford East, Scout Leader, Group Scout Leader and District supporter. Again sadly missed.
Unfortunately Vera wasn’t well enough to attend, however Stewart Jessop ( Bradford South District Commissioner ) was able to give a comprehensive outline of Vera’s service. The families of Margaret and Bob were present for the dedication by Wayne.
Was made possible with a considerable donations from
Arthur Heppleston – Bradford South, life longer Scouter, and District Commissioner
Stewart gave a resume of Arthur’s Scout life and commitment.
Suzanne Whittaker – Bradford East / North, Suzanne like many started as the Group Secretary in 1982 and progressed to Asst. Cub scout leader, Akela, Scouter in Charge then group scout Leader, and finally district Secretary. Full circle some might say. Sadly missed.
Wayne again performed the dedication.
Finally over to the new wardens accommodation, Dorothy Holdsworth our county Vice President had chosen the name of Amy Clewer Building, in honour of, again a life long matriarch of Bradford Scouting from after the 2nd World War.
Stewart again gave the background story with Dorothy adding a few personal experiences

Wayne cut the ceremonial ribbon whilst adding a few more anecdotes. Refreshements and a tour concluded the proceedings.
The Campsite, its management thank each and every donation and the attendance of all at the dedication / openings we sincerely hope the facilities will be much used in the future.
