ACTIVITIES
Below are all the activities we run on site. Some are leader led, some are self led. These all need to be booked.
Our leader led activities need booking with the activity coordinator with at least 8 weeks notice to allow our coordinator sufficient time to try and accommodate the request and find instructors.
Our self led activities can be booked in advance through the activity coordinator or while on site through the warden (however there is no guarantee these will be available and not already booked.)
***Please note that Air Rifle, Archery, Axe Throwing, Climbing, Abseiling, Crate Stacking and Bush Craft are seasonal activities and will run peak time between 1st April and 31st October***
Our climbing and abseiling activities are available as separate bookings and are suitable for participants aged 6 and over. Sessions can accommodate up to 8 participants at a time in the hourand require two qualified instructors, meaning availability is subject to staffing. These activities offer a safe, exciting challenge and are a great addition to a visit to Blackhills
Our crate stacking activity is available for participants aged 6 and over. Sessions can accommodate up to 8 participants at a time in the hour and require two qualified instructors, meaning availability is subject to staffing. This fun and confidence-building activity challenges balance, teamwork and problem-solving, making it a popular choice for groups visiting Blackhills.
Our air rifle shooting activity takes place on our outdoor ranges and is suitable for participants aged 8 and over. Sessions are delivered by our qualified and experienced instructors and require two group leaders to accompany participants. Each session can accommodate up to 12 people per hour, offering a safe, structured and engaging introduction to target shooting at Blackhills.
Our archery activity takes place on our outdoor ranges and is suitable for participants aged 6 and over. Sessions are delivered by our qualified and experienced instructors and require two group leaders to accompany participants. Each session can accommodate up to 12 people per hour, offering a safe, structured and enjoyable introduction to archery at Blackhills.
Our tomahawk throwing activity takes place on our outdoor range and is suitable for participants aged 8 and over. Sessions are delivered by our qualified and experienced instructors and require two group leaders to accompany participants. Participants must wear sturdy boots and ensure arms and legs are covered for safety. Each session can accommodate up to 12 people per hour, providing a safe, exciting and well-supervised activity at Blackhills.
Our bushcraft activity offers a hands-on outdoor experience for groups of up to 12 participants over a two-hour session. Led by our qualified and experienced instructors, the session introduces practical woodland skills such as shelter building, fire lighting and tool safety. This engaging activity encourages teamwork, problem-solving and a deeper connection with the natural environment, making it a popular choice for groups visiting Blackhills.
Our garden games package offers a fun, relaxed activity option for groups to enjoy at their own pace. This self-led package includes soft archery, soft tomahawk throwing, giant Tetris and giant Connect Four, providing a mix of light competition and team play. Ideal as a flexible addition to your visit, the garden games package is perfect for encouraging participation, laughter and friendly rivalry at Blackhills.
Our orienteering activity is available as a self-led option, giving groups the freedom to explore Blackhills at their own pace. Using maps and checkpoints around the site, participants will develop navigation, teamwork and problem-solving skills while enjoying the outdoor environment. This flexible activity is ideal for a wide range of ages and abilities and works well as an independent challenge during your visit to Blackhills
Our photo trail books are a self-led activity designed to guide groups around Blackhills using visual clues and challenges. With a range of difficulty levels available, participants can follow different trails around the site, encouraging observation, navigation and teamwork. This flexible activity is ideal for all ages and abilities and provides a fun way to explore and discover Blackhills at your own pace.
